President Obama is calling us all to service!
You can enrich your own life, build deeper friendships with your fellow Jews, and strengthen our community life by adding your voice to a committee.
Feel free to give Rabbi a call if you want to discuss the best opportunity for you. Or call the appropriate Committee Chair to sign up.
Some ideas:
Worship Committee (Skip Becker): Do you have ideas, or want to brainstorm ideas, for improving our worship experiences at Temple? Would you enjoy helping do some of the “behind the scenes” activities, like shopping for the Tu B’Shvat seder, decorating for the Chanukah party, etc? Would you like to add your voice to our (infrequent) discussions of Temple policy around life-cycle or worship issues? If so, join the Worship Committee!
Social Justice (currently vacant): We are a Reform congregation; and the hallmark of Reform Judaism is our commitment, our passion, for Tikun Olam. Yet we have not had a Social Justice committee for several years! If you believe a temple isn’t doing its mission without a Social Justice committee, then step forward! We could use a few people to brainstorm ideas and move us forward. (Fortunately, despite the absence of a committee, we continue to belong to JAM, and to do a few easy projects, such as a food drive on Yom Kippur, and toiletries drive year round.) Social Justice programs have the potential to engage and excite currently uninvolved members in Temple life! High School students are welcome to take this on, too!
Program Committee (Barbara Bernstein): Have some great ideas for fun things to do? So far, we’ve organized suppers, bike rides, wine-tasting, film festival… We’d love your ideas, too! Adult education ideas also are welcome.
Ways and Mean (Laurie Leventhal): Want to chair or work on a fund-raiser (like our annual Goods and Services Auction, our annual Sports Night, or your new idea)?
Finance Committee (Gary Zaremsky): We need creative people to help us stay afloat and even prosper in this challenging economic environment.
Our Sunday School Committee (Margaret Morgan) is well-staffed, but we always welcome new voices.
Membership Committee (Cheri Crothers): Do you have any ideas about how to draw more people into our community? Join the Membership Committee!
